GLOW ALL SUMMER! NEON GREEN LOOKBOOK

We all know history repeats itself and that theory undeniably applies when it comes to fashion!The biggest clothing trend from the 80s was fluorescent colored everything, currently known as neon by us millennials. Clothes, shoes and accessories from the 80’s were so bright it would be wise for you to protect your eyes with your favorite pair of frames no matter the time of day. Many fashion critics were really surprised when Michael Kors displayed head- to -toe neon ensembles in his fall 2009 collection. To sum up the initial thoughts from the critics back in 2009, the 80’s was so tacky why dig up old bones? In my opinion Michael Kors was without a doubt the leader of the resurgence of 80’s fashion. He made a “retro” color palette feel super modern and chic and several pieces from his 2009 collection is very on trend 10 years later. In 2009 I was in the ninth grade, although I would prefer not to revisit my horrible fashion sense I can admit I was definitely on trend… no matter how horrible I currently believed I looked. Thick waist belts, metallic fabrics, harem pants and bright neon items were very reminiscent of everything our parents are most embarrassed about when it pertains to the 80’s and everything we cringe at while thinking about our “rockstar” phase from 2008-2010! Nonetheless here we are in 2019 ready glow up in our neon green.

Neon green can really range from a bright green to deep chartreuse. Regardless of the shade of neon green you rock, you absolutely have to be confident to strut in such a bright color. For those of you who are trying to ease your way into a more colorful wardrobe don’t feel inclined to replace all of your neutrals with super bright items. Neon isn’t as intimidating as you might think; you can easily incorporate small accessories like earrings, shoes or bags to catch your glow up.

Even though the summer hasn’t even started and the party pooper are already trying to dim our light with the “yall gonna neon green us to death this summer huh” comments and my answer to that is simple, YUP! After such a long, dark and gloomy winter we deserve to GLOW UP!
